It was that the audio quality and audio effects were first rate and, so far, beyond what the reviewer has experienced in his system. Maybe I should have worded the body of the post differently: sorry about that. By the way, 7.1 folds down to 5.1 so you don't need a 7.1 system to experience the soundtrack. It is nice to see a studio take advantage of what Blu-ray can offer regarding the number of channels.
The Transporter series is rock solid action, effects and video mayhem that is sure to get the adrenaline junkie pumped up. This last endeavor raises the bar for the series re: audio and (stylized) video quality.
I especially liked this comment from the reviewer, something that frequent posters on the Film Asylum would know absolutely nothing about:
"I don’t know about you but I don’t watch films like this expecting well rounded scripts, deep characters, and award winning performances. Movies like this require the suspension of belief in realism which allows an escape into a world where pretty much anything is possible in order to achieve the desired goal. The goal of course is mindless entertainment is derived from action based elements that are exciting, physically demanding, thoroughly unbelievable and of course fun to watch."

Sorry, I like my action movies smarter than this one.
I can suspend disbelief just fine thank you very much - *if* the movie's good enough.
I like plenty of movies that aren't deathless art - really - I have the special edition DVD set of The Hidden!
And I don't mind if if folks groove on the PQ and sound of T3, which is obviously a very finely produced BD. If this movie entertains you and helps you unwind, gives the HT a good work-out, well OK.
But it isn't a good movie, and it isn't a movie that I would ever bother to rent. ANd I dunno the reviewer but I'm guessing this is someone whose opinion I would not take seriously. The snippet is not a "review" , it's justification for liking a lame movie. Which isn't a sin, see my guilty pleasure above. But at least I admit it's a guilty pleasure.
"Mindless"???? - he said it. There ain't enough time left in my life for me to waste it with this kind of fare.
I find most art boring as the fuck. That doesn't mean I don't or can't appreciate it, but sometimes I just want to be entertained and taken on a thrill ride. Movies like this "do it" for me and many others. Waste of time? That's your opinion and it's no better or worse than mine or that of anyone else (same goes for my "boring" comment). If it's not your cup of tea, so be it. The comment I posted is in reference to the artsy-fartsy crowd, most of whom think their shit don't stink.
That's news to Paul Greengrass and the studio.
Some "art" movies aren't art at all, they really are boring. But the good ones are as thrilling as any action flick.
The whole of commercial cinema hardly divides only between mindless, loud, action flicks and somber, glacial treatises on the human condition. There are good, better and bad movies of all types.
Since I seem to have struck a nerve with someone whom I've always regarded as a friendly presence and ally here, that's all I have to say and I'm off to the movies - to see Coraline in fact. At least the BD medium is showing what a nice HT systme is capable of...whatver floats youe boat.
Bourne? When did I mention Jason? Or are you referring to someone else?
Maybe it is better we both watch a movie instead of argue over this issue. I piss off enough people without adding to the count. :-)
which requires absolutely no suspension of belief and has no violence etc. Different strokes...I guess it's the costumes and makeup that make it more OK to get crazy and call it art... :)
Nothing like (most) Jason Statham films for frenetic action. I do NOT like the editing style of many of them though, but you mostly know what you're in for beforehand.
