I'm having trouble with this switcher presently. I have the 4x1 version but it is the same. The issue is with the cable DVR box...there are splt second dropouts. No drop out using DVD player. This is a big problem apparently with a LOT of HDMI switches...just read some threads over at AVSforum. In this case, it could be the equalization since I only have sources with 1m HDMI cables and it specifically says to use cable over 5 feet I think and thicker 24awg...I have 28awg so I am not using it as spec'd.
Follow Ups:
I switched out the HDMI cable between DVR source and the monoprice HDMI switch with the recommended 24awg > 4 foot minimal length cable, and it now works perfectly with no dropouts. This has turned out to be an affordable and effective HDMI switch that passes 1080p.
.
The first output port, at least, is auto-switching and that requires sensing a change in the load. The circuit, therefore, must be very sensitive to load.
I do not like auto-switching, personally, because all of my sources are usually on anyway.
