I know this is may be way below the level of equipment you folks are used to dealing with, but I'm a long-time inmate (who sneaked over here from vinyl) and I trust your judgment.
I am looking for a 23" (give or take) LCD monitor that can handle my laptop and my OPPO DV-980H DVD player. The criteria are:
1. good detail, color and shading reproduction. It doesn't have to be too bright since I will watch movies in a dark room.
2. HDMI and VGA input
2. clear text quality
3. base price of $300 and under.
I will not be playing games--just watching video (both movies and small-production concert DVDs, etc.) and using it for text work.
So far I have looked at LG E2350V and Samsung PX2370 and B2330H. The PX2370 has the best color but it does not have a good reputation for text. Dells (e.g. STB2310) seem to be the other way around--good for text but blah color. Advice?
Follow Ups:
The monitor you want is the one I just got..Vizio M220NV 22"
About $250 (see Target) 1920 x 1080 max resolution, edge-lit LED
Full 1080p, seldom seen at this size level
beautiful HDTV, Beautiful hi rez computer output
Does Internat aps too...has WiFi and an Ethernet connection,
HDMI and RGB inputs. Even a usb connection.
I'm running this as a computer monitor off an HP Slimline, as well as pulling in HDTV off rabbit ears at the office.
Thanks for the reply. I like the idea of having wifi etc., although it's not a requirement.I ended up getting an LG E2350V. 23," also LED-lit and 1080p. The resolution is great and text looks very sharp, but I think the color looks a little washed out. I don't know if this is just the way it looks or I just haven't calibrated it right.
I have until tomorrow to decide whether to take it back to Best Buy.
