A properly calibrated Direct View TV or monitor, provided it's a quality set, will give the truest colors. However, where are you going to get one of decent size (minimum 32" for a small room) and quality brand new? You may be "a color man", but there's a lot more to video than color. Direct View sets have numerous issues that sideline any small advantage they have in color accuracy.
Next stop, plasma.

Some of us benefit from the "newer is better" attitude. I've obtained for friends two 34" CRT HDTVs that were being given away for free.

To me, it's not worth it vs a larger plasma display and the advantages of that technology. I have given away several Direct View televisions and have not regretted it one bit.
