Connect an ethernet cable from the port on the back of the player to the router. In the Menu system, there is an option to look up firmware updates. I have a DMP-35 (same as yours, but no multichannel analog outputs) and that's how I've done it in the past.

I have Panasonic sending me a firmware update CD-R and I have Netflix sending me a new Blu-Ray copy of "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy." If nothing works, I'll get the local computer people to try your way. Thanks for the quick reply.
You can dewww it!"
It's really quite simple. Just hook an ethernet cable to the back of the player. Connect the cable directly to your router. Have the player connected to a display and just go through the Menu system to locate the Firmware Update section. Tell it to check and it will tell you that it found an update. All you have to do is tell it to download and install.
That's really all there is to it. Takes just a few minutes and you're done.
I was a bit surprised at my Panasonic TV going over the internet for firmware updates. But it works!!
Just bring you player over to the router, although helps to have a display attached as well. A long ethernet cable works just as well and it's always handy to have around.
