Denon makes a good AVR. For music, Marantz is what you want. Just bought a Marantz sr8012 to replace a sr6007. Can't believe how much better my music files sound.

How different are the electronics in similarly priced Denon vs. Marantz models?
I have a Denon x4000 receiver. This model has been back twice for factory-warranted service, and its Denon predecessor had one trip for factory service. When this one dies, I'll be looking for another brand, but I hate to give up Audyssey XT32 (Denon and Marantz are the only receivers with this software). Marantz has that tiny, useless port window as a display.
First off, I hope your Present Denon lasts many years. Info for the Marantz and Denon can be found here:
PS:Bought the sr8012 from JDSmoothie, great price, autherized dealer (USA).
