But Blu-Ray has noticeably better PQ and SQ.

Certainly true compared to our so-called Hi-Def Comcast cableTV. PQ from over the air HDTV and Blu-Ray are much better. But since I'm not a videophile I don't really mind.
We still have two cheapie Sony Blu-Ray players for those rare occasions when we want to pop-in a DVD or Blu-Ray.

For casual watching, we tend to stream, if it's available. For something I expect to be visually stunning, and/or have a high rewatchable factor, I buy the disc.

I don't disagree with you about PQ and especially SQ on blu discs, but as I said, the disc as a format is in its twilight-time. It is a dead end technology. For those with sizable collections it only makes sense to keep a player, but the time is coming when the disc will be irrelevant as a format.

I live in Hong Kong where space is at a hige premium - there are dozens of places selling CD and Bluray discs and shock - vinyl. In big shopping malls no less. And CD Vinyl are both still big in Japan and China.
Basically every pop release is still released on CD and Vinyl (mostly) - So dead is something I am not seeing in evidence.
Pioneer just released an over $1,100 USD Bluray player - so the stuff is out there. There are dozens of dedicated CD transports being made by all sorts of companies from Cambridge Audio, Woo Audio, Pro-Ject, AND Metronome, Audio Note, CEC at the higher end. - it goes on and on.
Several were recently posted (some by me) on this Steve Hoffman thread.
Disk media is dead in 'Merica, cause we're lazy!
(Disclaimer: I still like physical disks, but thinking about exploring HiDef DSD downloads for music. For movies at this time 4k BluRay continue to provide better quality over downloaded or streamed content)
