Okay, I'll start. Why? This thing is the ultimate grab bag of Indi Cliches. It is a total rehash of the past. Sure, the effects are great it is still so tiresome. There aren't any new moves other than being depicted in 1969 with flashbacks to WW2. Waller-Bridge is certainly talented but not so much here. If you go see it take an alarm clock with you. |
It certainly isn't getting any respect from a lot of YouTube critics. . . , posted on July 2, 2023 at 11:42:53 | |

. . . some of whom have been posting daily updates on how bad Waller-Bridge is, or how Disney won't even get close to recouping its investment. And a lot of resentment is directed towards producer Kathleen Kennedy, whose head should have been on the chopping block well before this, considering all the financial damage she's wrought. Ms. CfL and I have certainly gotten a kick over the last couple of weeks from these various YouTube "take down" reviews. Over on Rotten Tomatoes, the audience score (88%) looks pretty impressive, until you realize the domestic box office receipts have only been $60 million (just as predicted) - IOW, not nearly as good as Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (from 15 years ago, when the dollar was worth more than it is now!). As one of the reviews opined, "We didn't know how good we had it with Kingdom of the Crystal Skull!". Oops! Here's a sample: View YouTube Video |
