Roger Corman's Tales of Terror presents 3 stories based on Edgar Allen Poe writings some of which Corman described as "fragments". The second story in the film, The Black Cat, includes a wine tasting throw down between the town drunk played by Peter Lorre and the world's leading wine taster played by Vincent Price. I found this scene amusing especially considering that Vincent Price was in so many horror movies I saw growing up in the 70s.

easily been a successful comedy duo ala Abbott & Costello (but NOT Laurel & Hardy)
if they weren't already successful at what they did so well. Some of the movies they
did together are ONLY worth seeing because of their comedic interactions.

Price was a riot in real life - witty, friendly, a celebrated art collector and
philanthropist and a mean chef.

Some actors are much more than what they do for a living.

The Black Cat is Classic almost with a "K"!

Yep. My wife found a signed copy of Price and his wife's "A Treasury of Great Recipes."

Very Cool! He recorded some LPs of those recipes which were later released on cassette tape.

We bought a (used) set for a work friend years ago as a going away gift.

If he still has them they have become very collectible and pricey.

Really fun to listen to though the recipes seem VERY dated!

That's cool! I need to find some Vincent Price recordings for the spoken word section.

I'll be thumbing through the recipes this weekend looking for Cornish hen tips.

I was trying to think of who could pull off that scene today. I settled on Danny DeVito for Peter Lorre's character. I'm not so sure about Vincent Price's character, though. It would be interesting to give Nick Offerman a shot at it, but a casting call might be required.

I always detected a measure of humor in Mr. Price (RIP)
