The rules "is" different this time around. The naughty USA exploded a new test weapon off the coast of Tasmania which caused 500K immediate deaths. At first, there were no survivors, then some movement and gnashing of teeth, then some came running after you. The longer the body was dormant, the more active it became upon "coming back online."

Unfortunately, the zombies were secondary to the actual plot, which centered on Daisy Ridley's efforts to find her husband, who was on business close to the explosion. She volunteered as a body checker and was paired with a younger (more hip) man who was looking for his wife. The film was about the emotional struggle of navigating the country, with a lot of anguish on Miss Daisy's face while grotesque zombies peppered the atmosphere from time to time. Down Under has turned out some really powerful horror films over the past few years but this one was a slow pitch. No rush to get tickets as your sofa will serve well if you like this kind of thing.
