Dunkirk was a consequence of the peace-time, imperial policing, battalion focussed world-view, of its Regular officer class.

All but a teeny bit of which had gone by the 1970s, IME.

2nd Bn Royal Green Jackets (KRRC). Peninsular Barracks, Winchester.
