Hi
I have a JVC 27-inch D500 . which would be a good DVD player for this set ? I have a VCR I can record with , but Who knows how long that will last. These things tend not to last that long , it is an inexpensive Fisher. Is recording that much better on a DVD ? I think it is, but I am not sure whether to spend on recording features I want something inexpensive but recommended . Good sound is a real Plus Too , if they sound any different .

thanks
Alex

Decent unit at a fair price--combined VCR and DVD player

Toshiba SDV 394 about $89
Similar DVD only unit Toshiba SD4000 about $49

A DVD recorder is miles better than a VCR. I'm not so sure about the entry level no-name brands, but can you stretch your budget for an entry level brand name DVD recorder? Better picture, better sound, discs last pretty much forever.... I like Sony for DVD players, wish I would have sprung for one when buying mine, but they were $800+ at the time. I bought a Pioneer (which was still $600 back then).
