Lost in Translation... and... Jesus of Montreal

Finally got to see Lost in Translation in its entirety. Not a bad film, but something you had seen thousand of times before, and without any revelations. Better film than many and that is probably its biggest redeaming value.

It sort of lost the momentum about 20 minutes into its action, fortunately then was able to regain it, but still, the whole middle section was awful.

Sofia still has plenty to learn, as the film doesn't have even pace and frankly stumbles over its many chiche'... but as I said, its innofensive nature carries it through.

Jesus of Montreal is another film of Canadian director Denys Arcand, who apparently has that thing about the Canadian health care system - his Barbarian Invasion was even more critical.

The film is tedious in spots, and could have been better edited to a more smooth overal package, and it is definitely not a film for everybody, but it mamaged to keep me interested till the end... not a small feat.

It is of course thought provoking - natch... given its subject, and it is naive too, but still worth a shot. Quite.
