pre-review Denon 5803

65.129.23.105

well so far I can make the lights go on and turn them off again

but I do this by pluging and un-pluging

oh

and there's no ground on the damned thing (it floats)

(that's how you can tell "lo-fi" from "hi-fi"...."lo-fi" doesn't have ground loops)

i've read the owner's manuals (yes there are several) in English and French, and they seem to be equally useful (I don't understand French, and apparently, I don't understand English either)

for now, I'm plugging my wires directly into the display, and swapping them out when I need to change sources...

but, the Denon looks marvelous...with all those alphanumeric acronyms in gold over the black faceplate...

i figure by the time i lean how to make sound come out of the damned thing it will be going for $300 on E-bay.

as for video...matching the picture with the sound...no hope...

this is proof that the Japanese have not forgiven us for Hiroshima & Nagasaki

i'm going to try "exposing this appliance to rain and moisture"...it might knock-out enough circuits to make it a passable stereo preamp...

the horror...
