I have to look in my manual for my 7.1 receiver all the time. Even when you think you know how it works, that's when you discover all the features left out of the manual. I honestly don't know how people who can't set their VCR's clock are supposed to have a hope in hell with these. And then there's the onscreen menus...yup, it's payback for sure.

My previous receiver was just Dolby Pro Logic or something, a piece of cake. Mindless to use.

Have you tried setting up all your speaker levels for good balance? For all of the sound modes (different for Dolby, dts, and their variants)? Have you tried properly setting up your sub? Best if the women/children/pets aren't around...
