Has anyone had experience with some of the analog surround sound processors that provide bass management capable of functioning in the analog domain? For example, I'm considering one of the low cost multi-channel Sony SACD players. My understanding is that if I want bass management, my Onkyo Dolby surround receiver won't be able to operate as intended, since the SACD deck wouldn't provide a digital output. - So, I'm considering the Outlaw Audio bass management unit, at around $350 for a unit tailored to my Maggie speakers. (I'm aware that I won't have control of speaker spacing, etc., but the Outlaw unit is supposed to mix the low-mid and low frequencies optimally for the Maggie main, center, and surround speakers.)
My question is whether I would be able to achieve somewhat similar results with my conventional surround receiver (an Onkyo 676) that includes "large speaker-small speaker" controls. I would, of course, be feeding analog line-level inputs to the receiver instead of a digital signal to the optical input. - It's probably somewhat important that the low bass be diverted from the Maggie center and surround speakers that are not capable of reproducing it.
Any comments or suggestions will be appreciated. - Sorry if this has been discussed before, but I'm a novice relative to surround sound.
