Philips 34PW9815 connection to Progressive DVD player

Hi there-

I am having difficulty connecting my progressive scan DVD player to the HD input (AV4) on the back of my TV. I have to switch the DVD player to interlaced format instead of progressive format. Please advise if anyone has had a similar problem and the steps they took to correct it.
