NAD T763 or Denon 3803 for Defintive Technology

A friend of mine is looking into HT receivers in the $1k range and was looking at Denon AVR 3803.

I mentioned to him NAD from my experience with stereo hifi as a great bargain. We looked on the web site and he liked numbers on the T762. However, he can not listen to it in the St. Louis area since there are no dealers.

Do any of you have any recommendations?

He is driving 6ohm speakers and I would tend to believe that the NAD would be more capable of driving this load. He only is running 5 channels now and doesn't have room for many more- so 6.1 vs 7.1 really isn't important.

However, does anyone know the actual power rating of the NAD- different places on the web site have different numbers. I know they are heavily under rated, but the actual numbers would be great. Also- what kind of DACs does it use?- are they any good?

Thanks for any advice you can give me. By the way, he wants to buy new with a warranty.

thanks,
Larry
