Re: NAD T763 or Denon 3803 for Defintive Technology

I'm running a Denon 3803 into 6 Ohm Tannoy speakers with excellent results. They are fairly easy loads though at about 91dB sens.

My only issue with NAD is based on a prior experience about 6 years ago. I bought a new $399 NAD receiver for my office (forgot the model) and found the amp section to sound somewhat compressed and not very dynamic. This was with typical consumer bookshelf speakers - Boston Acoustics I think. Several months later I purchased a $200 Onkyo receiver that easily outperformed the more expensive NAD. It was more 'open' and alive and able to drive the same speakers with ease w/o sounding compressed and strained like the NAD. I still have that NAD packed away somewhere in the basement.
