You know that SACD only outputs through the analog outputs of the player, there is no universal digital I/O hi-rez format yet. I assume the digital output of the player can be use for CDs, you may have to change some settings in the audio options menu. (I own a Sony DVD/SACD/CD changer, and can configure the digital outputs for DD/DTS decoding or just plain redbook.)
Are the few SACDs that work thru the digital output hybrids..that would explain it, what you're hearing is the CD potion of the SACD disc.
