Re: Projector for everyday TV...dumb idea?

152.3.0.24

Generally when people talk about HT, watching TV is part of the package. It's not exclusively for watching movies. If you read a few posts, people often talk about watching sports and HDTV broadcasts.

The only mark against using a front projector for everyday TV would be that the bulbs tends to wear out and cost a few bucks to replace (usually between $300-600). Most lamps are given a 2000-3000 hour life, some of that being time when the lamp has dimmed a certain degree. Watching selectively won't really be much of a drag, but turning the TV first thing when you come home and leaving it on until going to bed could place a significant drag on a projector.
