signal flow

Do you need component switching capability? If not, just run the component cables straight to your display and bypass the Denon.

However, if you do need switching capability:
On the Denon, you will have video outputs (they may be labeled to monitor). What type of cable are you running from the Denon to the display (monitor)? To get a component picture on the display, there should be 3 component cables going from the Denon to your display.

On some DVD players, you actually have to tell them to output a component or progressive signal. Some players provide this in the menu as an option and some players require you to actually push a switch/button. You didn't mention the model of your Panasonic, so I don't know if this is the case with your particular player.
