I saw the XBR and the HS lines side-by-side over at Soundtrack and could easily see the difference in the better tube. Also saw the HS next to various other brands over at BB. In the end, I figured along the same lines as you and sprang for the big tuber. What a load of features to try to figure out.
One thing I grappled with and rejected was the Circuit City extended warranty. Why pay them $80 for the first year when Sony gives a full year parts and labor?? I'll put it on a Panamax and cross my fingers. If it ever does go tits up (sorry girls), it will be a real challenge to lug it around w/o damaging it further though.
