Need some help

64.102.254.33

I am in need of some design and set up help and Speaker choice for my Surround System. 1st the Design issue, I am trying to decide where my Plasma should go on the wall. I am thinking about putting it on the wall because they way my living room is set up, I am trying to get the most visibility for everyone. The dimensions of the room is 17.5 by 14.5 and 9ft ceiling. On one of the 14.5 wall, is a Fireplace that rises to 4.5ft of the floor, the other opposite wall has a 4ft open doorway and a Thermostat on the wall. On the length side of the room is a large wall that seems obvious to put here but again I am looking for best viewing because on the opposite 17.5ft wall has a 8ft opening into the kitchen. I would love to put it over the fireplace because that would leave all other walls open to seating but what is your experience when it comes to looking up at the screen. Any suggestions here?

My next question is regarding upgrading my speaker choices. I am currently using a Sony STR-DE995 A/V Receiver, Bose VC-10 Center Channel, Bose Acoustimass 5 Series 2 for Front and Sub and I have a couple of older Polk Audio M3 for my rear speakers. The more I read, I see that the Bose may not be the way to go when i am upgrading. I am not looking for $1000 dollar or more "world beater" Speakers. I will save that investment when my entertainment room is finished. What would you recommend with a budget of $700 to $800. Would you keep the rear speakers that I currently have and work on the sub, Center and Fronts or would you recommend a complete system. Any help would be greatly appreciated
