PS2 would be about 350$ list. So may be 300$ retail, after a while.From what I read, it will do progressive ... probably with a memory option.
But yes, they make loads more PS than progressive dvd players (if they make any at all).
Seriously, HTPC is the best progressive dvd player available today ... with custom configurable aspect ratios and number of lines. In fact you can use it as a scalar rivaling mega buck video processors / scalars. See the link below. All for under a grand.
