Any suggestions on a good budget 32" tube TV?

I am in the market for one. I don't care for any gimmicky features like PIP, channel search, etc. Just want a clean picture, no geometric distortion, natural soft colors without any hard edges and no video noise? Flat screen is not bad but not mandatory? Is there any to look at in the sub $1000 range? Will be watching cable primarily.
Suggestions will be greatly appreciated
