DLP versus SXRD versus DLA

I am interested in anyone's thoughts on PQ and the presence of a noticable difference between a 3 chip 720p projector, like a Runco, versus a 1080p SXRD or DLA projector by Sony or JVC. I know what the specs say you should see but do you really see it? Or am I asking an apples and oranges question? I currenly have a single chip 720p Sim and I am getting the upgrade bug. I know some may say "go see for yourself" but I want to do some homework before I hit the store. Thanks for the feedback.
