RE: Better HDMI cable to decrease clouding/flashlighitng?

I don't think it's the HDMI cable, unfortunately. I've had the Monoprice HDMI cable, which, though cheap, seemed good with none of the problems you mention, and many have reported fine experience with it. However, I will say that when I switched from the Monoprice to a Wireworld Starlight cable, there was an immediate and noticeable improvement with my TV.

Don't know what could be causing the problems you mention. I had none of those with my Sony 52" LCD/LED.
