I do not know the cause of your clouding/flashing problem (I don't have experience with LCDs), but I can recommend the best HDMI cables I've utilized on my 65" Hitachi high-end CRT. They're made by Bluejeans Cable and in my system perform as well as Monster's expensive M1000 cable, which I also own. The Bluejeans HDMI cables are surprisingly low priced. Their customer service, too, is first class.
