Not here

We've had DirecTV for 9 years here in central Florida. The rain and thunderstorms in this area are often incredibly intense. We are from central New Jersey and never experienced such storms until moving down here.

We occasionally lose the satellite signal, but only during the heaviest downpours. Even then, the outage rarely lasts longer than about five minutes. At no other times do we ever lose a signal. Back in 2004, during a hurricane, we viewed TV coverage of the storm while winds outside our house were blowing at 90 mph. (I'm still amazed the dish wasn't torn off the side of the house.) The hurricane caused thousands of cable customers, including our neighbors, to lose their service for several weeks (yes, weeks), while we never once lost a minute of crystal-clear TV reception.

Something must be wrong with the way your dish and/or outdoor components were installed.
