RE: Connecting Powered centre speaker to Oppo-93

If you did use a powered center you'd have to adjust volume separately for the preamp and speaker which would be a pain.

You might try turning the dynamic control on, not sure what Oppo calls this feature but it limits the dynamic range in order to make things easier to hear and so the sound doesn't have to be turned up so much at night.

Also, are you using the left/right analog outputs opposed to the multichannel analog? As mentioned, if everything is properly set up for two channel listening I wouldn't think what you describe should be happening to your extent.
