Pretty much what you said about the Esoteric fantja...

But I'm enjoying the Oppo BDP-95 just as much. However, on sober second thought, viewing a 50" (or 55") TV at 12' I don't know if I could distinguish between 720p and 1080p upscaled to 4K, and likely the LG would exhibit some motion artifacts.

Who'd a thunk I'd have so much trouble, piece by piece, updating a 13 year old system? Since I've given up on the TV for now I'm on to pre-pros. The trouble there is finding one as musical and transparent as my Anthem AVM 20.
