Madonna is starring in the remake of "Swept Away" directed by husband Guy Ritchie. This almost falls under the category of terrorist action.
Follow Ups:
...the son of Giancarlo Giannini. Adriano Giannini.
What a great idea!
While the remake of Insomnia made me cringe (especially since I loved Chris Nolan's last film, Memento--maybe he should stick to helming his own scripts?), I don't think Swept Away was anything to write home about. I've seen several of Wertmuller's films and she leaves me cold and uninvolved with her characters. Now, the real question, AFAIC, is why would Ritchie--a hyper slick director--direct such a low key movie like Swept Away? But given the way they re-worked and dumbed-down Insomnia (and missed all the nuances of the original), Lord knows what they'll do with Swept Away.
On second thought, I feel some of your pain afterall.
At one time Lena Wertmuller was very talented writer-director. I have enjoyed her movies...especially "Seven Beauties" and "The Seduction of Mimi"."Swept Away" was a little too chauvenistic, and that a woman put it together, made it the more interesting. There have been variations on it's theme, like the Harrison Ford-Anne Heche thing, "Seven Days, Six Night" or whatever IT was. Let's face it...it only proves that everything and anything is fair game these days for remakes.
How Ritchie could screw up a remake, is intriguing to me...anyone else have any information on how they did it ?
I read some gossip...somewhere online...that the movie is very bad, so hopefully, it won't see the light of day.
