Hey! I am new here but I sure do have to add my few cents to movies that I have walked out on....few years back my husband and I went a a jammed packed, ushered to our seats theater of "Eyes Wide Shut". Yeah, we sat through most of the c*** (no plot, never measured up, didn't bring anything up to date and any closure; sure I like Nicole Kidman---Moulin Rouge' was outstanding--some may disagree--it's a movie you like or don't----yeah--I like Tom Cruise) BUT I have to say it's my opinion and I just wanted to share it and see what anyone else had to say about it? Ok what about The Piano (what was--won't go there)? Thoughts?
Thanks Hope I enjoy being here.
Kat
Follow Ups:
These are movies that I paid to see and actually walked out of the theater, absolutely horrible:
Barry Lyndon is one of the five best movies ever made in the world.I bet my dollar on that fact.
And what´s their relative order? Please apply Wine Contest Rules...I, too, have Barry Lyndon in great esteem.
Regards
Perhaps we made too much noise and scared her away?I hope she doesn't regret asking the question. We could use more people who disliked the EWS... :-)))
about the "illuminati" - now Kat thinks we're all nuts.Unless,

I thought clark only posted on two films: Solaris and The Wicker Man.
Here it is...
I gave at the office!
1. Lara Croft - Tomb Raider
2. Eyes Wide Shut
3. Cocktail
4. Top Gun
(ye gads! 3 Tom Cruise flicks in a row. How about two more Cruise stinkeroos?)
5. Legend
6. Mission Impossible 2
7. Moulin Rouge (sorry but I really hated this movie. it seemed like it was about 200 hours long and was really, really painful)
8. Armageddon (words cannot describe how much I detest this piece of dreck!)
9. Get Carter! (the remake, with Stallone. The original, with Michael Caine, is a classic of the genre.)
10.Blood Sport (or any other movie starring Jean Claude van Damme exceot "Time Cop", which was merely okay.)
The three worst I have ever seen are1) Armageddon
2) Casino Royale
3) The Black HoleI also thought Armageddon was by far the worst of these three.
and proves that a huge budget and a great cast does not mean the movie won't end up a big steaming pile."Deep Impact" was far better, IMO, and still is only fair. At least it had some entertainment value.
It was..... bad. Howdee!
You are right, EWS IS crap with no redeaming values, and a sad ending to a lustrous career. We had discussed it here perhaps 100 times already, and it ain't getting no better. It is one of the popular target to stick your sword into, so to speak. It was pathetic on pretty much all fronts, with perhaps the most boring part being the "orgy" - can you imagine THAT!??? As for the ending, that sweet and jucey punch line... well, I can only guess what caused the master to slide to that level. No, I didn't find it offensive, just incredibly stupid, embarrassing and lacking any drive or punch. More like a fart.... embarrassing. The Piano is - or can be - enjoyable, I am sure you will not regret watching it. I love both actors and they both do well in that film.
no small feat, I assure you. The days where directors can just throw weirdness and oddety in your face, soley relying on MOOD, are over...the weirdness is no longer weird because it is no longer unique. YAWN I can't even remember finishing it. It was so Lady Chatterly's Lover without the charm cheekiness. If my expectations for it had been lower, I probably would not have been so disappointed...I guess many feel that way.

I don't think you're being fair to Eyes Wide Shut. You want to make His Girl Friday out of a movie that's fundamentally about intrigue, uncertainty and atmosphere. It's one thing to say that it's not your cup of tea - something like Chinatown would probably be - but it's another to say that the film is crap because it's not what you wanted to see.Personally, I didn't like how Eyes Wide Shut tries to explain things at the end. It worked against a lot of the intrigue and curiosity that was built up. I am thinking of 2001 as another Kubrick movie that really allowed the intrigue and curiosity linger on after it ended ...
