  Porn videos are regualarly chopped up for compilations, generally pay no royalties and have extremely short shelf lives. After their initial run, most movies become bargain fodder. QC suffers, using extended play formats, no bonus features, etc. etc.

  Nevertheless the stores are always much higher on prices than internet.

  who will pay top dollars for just about anything because they think there is value in it.

  For example:

  1). Modern porn where the emphasis is on life style marketing etc, other than porn.

  2). Real estate, because they think it can only go up, not down.

  3). Penny stocks, etc.

  The cost of producing DVDs is next to nothing. Why do you see the mainstream studios rushing to release all their second rate crap? And for $10+ they make huge profits....but, once again the Adult Entertainment industry leads the way. :)
