was recommended by a friend (who needs enemies!) and was found to be really stupid. It had some funny moments, but was not worth the watch - avoid it.
We also managed to find a copy of "Twilight Samurai" as the unanimous positive reviews here got my attention. It was very good but was also very dark (gloomy almost) in it's scene lighting. We both enjoyed that one and my wife usually conks-out on subtitled films - thanks!

Follow Ups:
the loser) do: it makes the schmuck possessed of a marvelous talent (revealed near the end after he has been roundly victimized) which elevates him to the nethersphere.
Why a director can't be true to his subject and just show the guy persevering is beyond me: there's majesty in courage and determination.

Get back to vinyl :-) I want to see Crouching tiger which i think it subtitled, but i keep getting outbid on them in ebay by about 25 cents each time! Why can't people just let me have used dvd's for cheap?
"Crouching Tiger" is subtitled and was a fun to watch. I have it and I don't own loads of DVDs. I bought mine at the local record store (almost exclusively CDs now...) which also sells DVDs. As a matter of nostalgia, my shop occupys the space where the original "Record Exchange" was located. I have many fond memories of browsing aisles of Lp's and leaving with arms full of 'em!
