That's the window dressing Patrick, you missed the movie.
Did I?And I was more eager to like this movie! How great was my disappointment.
It was tough feigning interest for the length of the movie. That great line made it worth it: "Only God knows everything . . He works for Mossad."
Fuhgedaboutit!
One of the better literary films made -- so of course the general public hated it.Constant Gardener - Well it did pretty well -- no big action payoffs -- like real life. Excellent film - smart layered well acted. Very difficult novelist to pull off on the big screen...but then so is Ondaatje.
and journey of personal discovery.Too bad.
"Where are we going? And what am I doing in this hand basket?"
I have the novel still unread on my shelve I wonder if it as bad as this movie...
This love story is very manipulative and well done. But that will not save this film.
At least not for me.
was expecting something better and so was disappointed. Still, I'd rather watch a film whose reach exceeded its grasp than another sequel attempt.
It is very difficult to make any kind of a movie seriously dealing with a topic and not make it preachy, thereby destroying any action continuity and making it seem overly manipulative.
Of course, movies that totally are bourgeois don't have this problem because the values have all been sublimated long ago by the audience.
My expectation was rather high, too. For the same reasons you did like it, I did not, obviously.
