Flat Panels can be plasmas and LCDs.Panasonic's, and I'm sure others, commercial plasmas can be used horizontally (landscape) or vertically (portrait). But I'm sure that you would want a flat panel LCD if you're going to actually be rotating the screen throughout the day. You're not going to be doing this with a plasma.
Windows XP, with the Hot Keys enabled in Graphics Options, can rotate the screen 180 degrees (Control Alt Down).

You're right; LCD. but the option in windows xp (which i did not know about so thank you) isn't what i'm looking for: i'm looking for more real estate. I write screenplays and having a vertical screen that can show a whole page of script is helpful.
Yes. Adding a rotatable LCD screen with that setup option will do the job. I use a pair of them.
