  I'll enter this lion's den with the comment I have read the Lexicon sounds great with movies but crap with music.

  If true that really bothers me as good music reproduction on movies is, IMO, just as important, if not more so, that surround sound effects.

  Because of the above reputation, true or not, I went for the even more expensive Meridian 861 and I can report it is superb on music as well as HT. Even fed with a clean analog signal from vinyl it does not corrupt. No one yet has been able to detect any difference in sound between a signal which completely bypasses the 861 and the same signal through it. [I have a neat remote switch box which allows A/B comparison]

  But I concur with the other posts, as all other processors tried here made a mess of the music.

  The cal has analogue bypass, 24/96 DAC's, with all the regular trimmings. Is also only a audio processor and has no video circuitry (they sell a video switched if you desire), which alleviates many of the incompatabilities of having video and audio side by side. Comes standard with a Pronto remote too, which was a nice little perk. Widescreen review had a glowing review of it, playing it ahead of the Proceed AVP (another excellent product).

      What are you reccomending that is so far ahead of it now? Of course its not discreet! What reverb or effects processor is?

      At the top of the market today all you have is the 960L, M6000, Eventide and the Sony Sampling reverb, none of these are discreet. Are they all crap too? Shame if they are coz thats what we are stuck with.
