Does anyone have experience with this unit or other tactile transducers?

I am using a single BK along with the Carvin 1000 amp in our home theater environment. Let me tell you, the power in this thing is incredible.I built a 4 x 12 foot platform using 2x6 joists and plywood flooring to host two loveseats (six foot). The platform sits on a carpeted cement floor - raised using eight Kinetics isolation feet.
The configuration is a Denon 4800 passing the LFE line-level output to a Paradigm X-30 crossover, connected to a small signal amp, and then to the Carvin.
What questions do you have?
Keith, why do you need to use the "small signal amplifier"? I have more or less the same signal chain as you with the exception of the signal amp. When I called Paradigm, they told me the X30 did add gain to the signal - is that not true? Which signal amp are you using, cost, etc? Did you try the BK out without the signal amp? What happened?

Hi Dave,You are absolutely right in that the X30 provides the additional signal gain. You do not need to use the additional amp inline (Radio Shack SA-155).
I have a Denon 4800 (200mv signal output) that had to have the LFE output amplified before feeding the Carvin amp. When I subsequently purchased the X30 and dropped it into the signal path - I did not remove the SA-155.
There are times that you might want to use the SA-155 depending on your environment. If I were to introduce more weight into our home theater setup (4x12 platform, two loveseats, four adults) - I would likely need to boost the signal as we now have both the X30 and the Carvin amplifer volume set to maximum.
Another benefit is that the SA-155 allows me to boost and enhance the BK output when listening to music. With the X30 and Carvin volume set to max, I need to adjust the Denon volume fairly loud to produce any noticeable BK vibration from the minimal bass at 80Hz and below typically found in CD music . With the SA-155, I can increase the output such that lower music volume settings can produce significant BK response.
It's all personal preference - but you're right - the SA-155 is not a required component.
Do you have any experience with other manufactures models? I was curious how the BK stacks up against the Clarks or the entry level Aura's.Thanks
I use a pair on my queen size adjustable bed in a bedroom based HT. I have constructed two 2'x4x¾" platforms and fitted them with isolation feet from Kinetics Noise Control. Each platform supports 2 bed frame legs.My first experience with tactile transducers was an array of 8 RBH units. (ultra high performance Aura's) I then moved up to a pair of Clark Synthesis 329F's. I replaced the 329's with Platinum models when they made their debut.
The Clarks are exceptional units and a large performance improvement above the RBH's. But when it comes to low frequency extension and output the BK has no peers. The are very dynamic, tight and detailed.
They are so capable of prodcing low frequencies I use a pair of subharmonic synthesizers on them. An Audio Control PCA generates signals 1 octave below and a Behringer EX1200 generates signals 2 octaves below the original.
I use a Paradigm X-30 to sum the signals before feeding a pair of Carvin DCM1000 amplifiers. I supply the synthesizers from the LFE output of a Parasound AVC-2500 pre/pro.
If you want to add some very serious tactile energy to your HT I would highly recommend the Buttkicker!
