I was at my local stereo shop today and came across a 1 year old used SSP-25. The previous owner traded it in for a Krell pre/pro I believe is what I was told. Anyway I have heard excellent review on this piece and have been very close to upgrading for a few months now.The store wants $1800 for the piece. Sounds like a fair price, but I was looking for some input on what others are seeing these pieces for now a days.
I am looking to replace my Carver HR-785 reciever with this piece. It will be paired with an Outlaw 750 amp and I am using Krix Apex speaker in the front and Energy's for the rears.
I don't think I can go wrong with the piece. Just looking to get a fair price.
Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

The $1800 is bordering on high for this unit. It is a great unit, I love Classe, but you can pick up a used one or demo for under $1500 on Audiogon, etc. One thing you may keep in mind is, I beleive the SSP-25 does not have a 5.1 channel input. Which if you don't plan on getting into multi-channel SACD or DVD-A, will not be a problem.
I have an SSP-25, I bought it used for $1300. The guy had it listed for $1500, but decided to take $20 off, just for kicks I guess - I didn't even ask. I think $1800 is pretty fair though, coming from a dealer. Yes, it is a very nice piece for the money. Only thing is that it doesn't have component video, if that matters to you (it didn't to me).
e-mail was wrong on the first one!
