on VN war pics especially since Ken Burns drove the final nails in the VN coffin. With the generational shift, war films won't play the role they once did. Just "boomers" like me will always take interest in the last century's wars.
Follow Ups:
Except for AN isn't just a war movie, it's a cinematic masterpiece that's also a sort of morality/psychological play. It' not just some Audie Murphy movie. I've meant for a long time to read Joseph Conrad's, "Heart of Darkness." I will have to get around to it one day.
One straight up Vietnam war movie that I though was worthwhile was, "The Siege of Firebase Gloria." It was a B movie that didn't get a lot of play, but was a really good war movie that seemed to be realistic.
Big speakers and little amps blew my mind!
Being a VN vet, I always tell people that AN best expresses the VN experience more so than any other film. It captures the absurdity and madness that went on there. Yes, it really was a Disney Land for adults.
Unfortunately, AN has been worn out from overexposure.
