All the major awards went to the predicted favorites. Maybe the members decided to be unpredictable on the director and best film awards? I thought their previous love for war films would make 1917 their majority pick.

and it lost Best Picture to that POS Shakespeare In Love! Which BTW I just read the other day that SIL won Best Pic. because Harvey POS Weinstein campaigned so hard for it! I guess he had alot of Hollywood by the balls!

  Weinstein was the most powerful man in Hollywood. He was a dogged promoter and flooded the trades with film ads during their candidate evaluation period.
  As we now know, he made and broke actors careers as well. Good riddance.
