two hit men go to Bruges, the rest I can not tell you without giving away major plot points but it really does not matter the main entertainment here is the city Bruges, the dialogue and the actors, Colin Farrell, Brenden Gleason and Clémence Poésy and a variety of supporting characters who add to the entertainment value. I recommend this movie based on fun factor - there is nothing really new here but everyone seems engaging and funny despite the endless movies of this type (quirky) in recent years, this is the one I recommend.

Just saw this (I know I'm late to the party). Terrific humor and a wicked dark turn in the last 30 minutes or so. Well done. Americans without a sense of humor about themselves probably won't/didn't like it. I don't think the filmmaker cares.

as noted by others a very dark 'comedy' with some terrible themes that did not occupy too much screen time so I did not consider them.

This is a film with an edge that was so over the top it did not bother me too much and I felt most of it was quite entertaining.

  This was dark comedy - not sure how some of the others could miss it. it's a film about hitmen so being shocked by violence when the movie is rated 18 for violence seems odd to me that some could feel "set-up."
  
  Why people go to movies when they know they are nto going to like the subject matter is beyond me.

...it was very dark - child murder - and didn't have much comedy. A couple of the characters had bad attitudes which could be mistaken for humor.
Then at the end...
Anyway, I wouldn't recommend it.

It was a hoot. Best movie I've seen so far this year but then I have not seen much.
