plotted film about a woman married to a milk-sop who unfortunately falls for a virile truck driver who cannot control his violent temper.
Yes, the expected occurs and common sense is murdered.
Signoret hardly has the fire to make us believe she'd lose her head so easily. Interestingly, the film's villain is not credited, even though he has immense star quality (help Patrick! Who is he?). I'd see this film if you're at all a Francophile: the long opening tracking shot of the Rhone in Lyons is worth the price of admission as are the frequent appearances of the downtown and boulevards of that wonderful and neglected city.

the name of the character. He's the right age for the role and I can't think of another. Wiki shows he acted in many films of Carné. It's a little strange he's ignored in the credits. He is, arguably, the most important character. He really is exceptional. I'd highly recommend you revisit this film for his performance. It's extraordinarily modern. Breathtaking, really. A French Marlon (though I believe you aren't a fan?).
No not a fan. But I admire him in some role ( Like the Freshman....)
Zola Zola...I am afraid I am through with him....But if this film had to pass my way I will take the opportunity to watch it..
Thanks.

I saw that film in France, but that is too long ago, safe to remember I did not like it.
As for the villain´s role, no clue-
