Harry Potter and the Half Pint Prince.
General Release? July 15th.
IMAX and IMAX 3D Release? July 29th.
Imagine all the poor slobs (myself unfortunatley in this group) that will run out and catch the July 15th show then line up for the July 29th show. I'll be seeing it with the kids at the midnight July 15th show and with the wife on July 29th in IMAX 3D.

HP was intended to bow in regular theaters and IMAX simultaneously. Box office figures have shown the studios actaully do better numbers that way - certainly a bigger take goes to the studio at the front end. More people go to see a film the first weekend, they want those high dollar IMAX ticket prices factored in the opening frame.
However, in HP's case, the movie was delayed from a Christmas release to a summer release, and Transformers 2 already had the IMAX theaters locked up for a month run. The two week gap was the soonest they could get HP & THBP into IMAX.
Hollywood and WB are guilty of many things, but this is not one of them.
Moreover, I will see it when it opens. If it's good, I'll happily see it again in IMAX.
But I do enjoy the Harry Potter movies! A very guilty pleasure.

I imagine they'll do fine with a summer HP release. Too bad it won't be in IMAX to start, that'll lose 'em a few million. But world wide they should rake in the cash.I never apologize for liking HP. The casting is wonderful. I think the characters and concept are charming and that several of the movies are quite entertaining - POA is actually a very good film IMO (directed by Alphonso Cuaron right before he did Children of Men). Unlike some folks, I also like the lastest director Peter Yates. I found Chris Columbus' direction of the first two...leaden..and Mike Newell just didn't know what to do with GOF. But all the movies have good moments...and then there's those wonderful British stage actors in all of them.

I also love the series. Back before the movies the Harry Potter books were very controversial in Christian circles. Being a Christian I was curious. Not sure of the author's intentions, I bought a used copy of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone not wanting to line the pockets of Rowling if I didn't like it. Well, it sat in my briefcase, unread, for over a year. Then the movie came out and I decided to watch that. I quickly realized these books are simply fantasy, no more evil than The Lord of The Rings. I have since bought all the books and read them, own all the movies out in both DVD and Blu-Ray, and, of course, have seen all the movies at the theater.
I have enjoyed watching the kids grow up. Emma Watson is brilliant in real life and a good role model, cute as a button now that she is 19 and I can say that. The books are not expertly written, being an amateur author myself. But the world is excellent.

I won't be seeing this either on July 15 or July 29 or anytime thereafter.
I have not seen any of the Harry Potter movies and see no reason to start now.
you're a lucky man if you've seen none of them. They're wonderful, of course, for an 8-year old.
..POA and the last one, OOTP.
There are many far worse movies around than HP, several of them debuting this very weekend.
I'm not ashamed to say I look forward to this one. I love the cast for one thing, and I can't wait to see Snape...never mind.
