Thanks! And there is no bad ending as I thought. As his daughter smiled....
So you think the daughter saw her father flying up there with the other birds?
"Oh! That Malibu home is now MINE!!!!!"

His spirit, more his spirit. But now I did not analyses particularly the last scene and the film is no more in my possession. The end was love and that was enough for me...Still is, the rest would be more academic.
Anyway the director is a man to follow he bring fresh air in the more than stinking Hollywood parody of what was once a good film.
The screenplay I posted is the ver batim Birdman Batman script, so you should be able to analyze the last scene. That's why I posted the script. There is perhaps a clue in the play they were performing on stage in which a boy is shot in the head or shoots himself in the head and taken to the hospital but I need to go back and analyze that scene myself.

I, of course read it, but still in the vague. As vague as the filmed. Now I admire your pugnacity, I am too lazy for that and happy with my ...own happy ending, which I still think that it was - meant- to be happy.
Not sure what you mean by happy ending. What do you think happened? If he was a bird at the end and a spirit that would seem to suggest he died. That's not what I would call a happy ending.
I look at the daughter´s face. that is MY happy ending!
Thanks! for sharing.
What's your take on Birdman? I'd really like to know. Share, share!
Except that drummer should be castrated! He drove my wife up the wall, and you know that never results in anything good. So she was much more critical, but I enjoyed most of it. The bed scene was hilarious.

I found the drummer like I wrote somewhere else a bit reminiscent of Ascenseur to the scaffold......
Now you like it or you hate it..I liked it...
I liked the film also. I think you need to just let it happen and not over analyze the surreal aspects. My favorite from this last awards season was Whiplash.

There is nothing to anywise. It is the combat between Hollywood and Broadway. Between classy actors and shitty superstars.

For me it was deciding if he was still a functioning member of the human race, or if our protagonist was the narrator of his own delusional fancy.....including the hallucinations.....suggesting that he'd been in his bed at the mental hospital the entire time. The last scene where he leaps out the window...? Hallucination or real, take your pick. If he really did jump out the window, I'm pretty sure he didn't fly away.

That actually makes sense. He also exhibited symptoms of the psychosis the name of which escapes me right now, the one where the subject yells out loud a lot when nobody's there or at imaginary foes. Oh, yeah, Tourette syndrome.

where he awaits the sequel.

After thinking I think he lives and he is an happy Broadway manager by now......
...all of the things moving and flying were in his head.
He killed himself with the gun onstage.
The last scene in the hospital room was what he experienced in his head before his last breath - he was finally free.
At least that's my take on it.
A brilliant film, photography and soundtrack - deserving of Best Picture.

...on how tortured you were during your life what constitutes freedom.
His play was going to be a success and free him from his feelings of being a failure, known only for playing Birdman. Just like the real life Keaton, remembered primarily for playing Batman.
...the reviewer was going to slam his play - how would it be a success?
Did he.( Kill himself on stage ) Well I would say no, but I have not the film anymore so....There is no replay-
By the end you never get to know which is what, but it doesn't matter to the story of Keaton's life. It all pulls together, even when mixing, matching, and crossing all kinds of boundaries.
In the end, maybe that was the message -- realities and fantasies come in all shapes and sizes, interchangeable, but your life is your life. One per customer.

.....and at one point, just a drum set setting the rhythm for a walk through the halls -of the theater building- was very effective at raising viewer involvement.

Minimalist, but effective.
Pointless, stupid. Actors worshiping themselves.

Agreed. One of the worst.

...filming it, I read, because he insisted on doing it only with natural light.
Be up for some Oscars.
Not my kind of film...
After watching that lengthy trailer I almost feel as if I've seen too much.
Well most trailers gives you that feeling.
Shame on those trailer makers!
Yeah.
