another arrived, the guys who came with the new one packaged up the old one, just as promised by that leading internet seller with the rain forested name, and hauled it away from the living room.
They also helped set-up the new one and waited for me to test it.
Perfect.
For someone who had zero experience with plasma.... what a shock!
I watched, "Persepolis," a fascinating animated feature, immediately after set-up and it was a fortuitous decision: it largely is black-and-white and the blacks, for which the Kuro is famed, were amazingly dark. Absolute pitch.
Truly an amazing product.
(If anyone here has a Kuro, I'd appreciate him mentioning it: I have a set-up issue which I haven't been able to figure out from the directions......)
I've been watching this series on thrugh a SKY HD box for the last few days and the picture quality is jaw dropping - the best HD images I've yet seen by far - so considering that the broadcast is probably 1080i I can only guess that full 1080p would be even better.
I'm still amazed at the image that my 50" 5010FD Kuro puts out, especially with Blu-ray and HD cable (Discovery HD Theater has a lot of great programming, and with no static logos to burn-in on your screen). Enjoy!

.
I'm hysterically, crazy-in-the-head, dancing-around-the-room naked, bonkers over it.
It exceeded my high expectations.
In these days of Madison Avenue mega-speak, to accomplish that is amazing.
Truly, it's a magnificent product.
(And I'd never know how good a large corporation's customer service could be if I hadn't had the initial problem).
I couldn't live without it. Not sure how others can!
-------------Call it, friendo.
Here's a link to the recommended 9G Kuro settings. Pay close attention to the details, as the first settings are to be used only with the break-in disc or flash drive material. If you're not using these methods, go to the second post for the recommended settings.
Using the break-in program is recommended though.

Can't believe I did that! Guess I'm Captain Dunce today.
Thanks for posting the link. I'm now going back to my room before Nurse Ratched finds out that I've screwed up in this asylum too...

I'm about to pull the trigger on a 151FD. Axxis quoted me $5100 for a $6500 retail product. Including shipping and no tax. They come well recomended on the AVS forum but I'm still a bit nervous regarding shipping issues.
Could you possibly email me the name of your retailer?
I'd strongly advise against being tempted by Free Shipping on any electronics or loudspeakers in this weight and price level. The 151FD has a shipping weight of 168 lbs. Free ground shipping is - depending on origination point & delivery address - and endless series of hub-to-hub-to-hub-to Out For Delivery transfers. Each one of those points involves moving that box from point A to B.
Come to think of it, I doubt UPS can do a 168 lb single box weighing as much as or more than a refrigerator.
At this *very upper end price point, I'd just be thankful for saving sales tax and go for White Glove delivery and not try to scalp the last $100-200 on the deal. I'm shopping for a 37" LCD and believe me, that will be 2-day delivery; at worst. The less "ground" involved, the better.
I would agree at even a $600 difference but it's just under a $2000 savings.
We'll have to agree to disagree about human caused global warming until the next global cooling scare comes along.
90 lb net weight loudspeakers, from Canada to CA USA via UPS ground; detoured through Customs in TN.
I'll never, ever forget the 2 gouge marks on the front deck where the boxes were dragged to the front door and dropped. Results were: mid and tweeter dust caps inverted as tho' someone jambed a thumb on them. Wiring to one woofer broken off. (*Always pull the drivers on new speakers for a wiring check!)
Point being, it's not about getting new toys as fast as possible, but about minimal handling. I tried (and missed) being on-site for delivery, having to take time off work. Be there no matter what to assist and observe.
I would surely like the delvery guys to be around for an upack and functional check of a $6k item, but I doubt that could happen. At the very least, be there for a visual of the packaging for corner crushes or punctures. As usual, it's what they call "hidden damage" that is the killer. (30%+ according to my appliance vendor in re: a Maytag refrigerator I ordered locally...)
The faster the delivery, the less time spent on piggy-back railcars and conveyor belt transfers, and the more time spent on an airplane going from airport A to airport B.
This retailer has a seemingly great return policy along with some good recommendations from the AVS site. Even so I'm just a wee bit skeptical and still talking myself into it. I'll be home for the delivery.
Thanks for your input.
I can make it easier: the company is named after a massive rain-forested area known for the world's largest, most voluminous river.
If you're still in the dark, I'll email!

Congrats on the purchase and getting the shipping damage resolved so quick. I get good service the vast majority of the time from Amazon dot com too.
