Live Aid concert from 1985: Jeff Beck on guitar, Simon Philips on drums and Jan Hammer on keyboards.
Does this exist on any commercial DVD? I've looked at the two Live Aid releases on Amazon.com and I see no reference to this part of the concert.
...I have a 4 disc set of Live Aid July 13 1985.
It was sealed so I opened it and had a look through the booklets and other info. I can find no reference to which you seek.
I will watch it one day but I think I have owned it several years now and hadn’t even opened it till I saw your post. (so don't hold your breath)
I will let you know ”IF” I see the footage you’re after.
Not much help I know but maybe a glimmer of hope?

It's probably not on there because I can see no listing on the release that you have or the new one that's out now. I doubt Jeff Beck's name would be left off twice. If you do get a chance to view it, I believe the segment was right before Stevie Winwood took the stage.
I get the impression from the Amazon reviews that maybe the footage doesn't exist. Geldof evidently didn't want the concert shown again at all, but of course, that changed with the big Rhino set.
It could be the masters are lost, it was never recorded to begin with, or perhaps the old bugaboo 'copyright issues.' Or, simply, that Rhino had to stay at a certain price point, and thus something had to go.
Surely there must be someone out there with a VHS recorded off the air?
It's not going to look fantastic, but it might be the only solution.
I know how hard it is to get a few artists/studios to sign off on a project, but the number of contributors to that project probably made it near impossible. I had the concert recorded to mono Beta. Mono sucks, consumer Beta doesn't exist anymore and neither does that tape. Guess I'm SOL...
