I am trying to get out of the pay TV game and still want to record TV shows.
My brother has an old tuner with DVR but the interface is clunky.
Are they still making these? I am not having much luck with google searches.
Is there one that is a solid performer with good pic and interface?
thanks
Phil
I'd look into a Silicon Dust HD Home Run box but you'll need a PC with Windows Media Center or a Mac with I don't know what.

ePVision PHD-VRX for $230
Records to your external hard drive (up to 2TB). It also does more than just record programs: it also does switching, has several inputs, ethernet playback, etc.
The fact that it doesn't come with a hard drive may be a deal breaker for some, but Walmart just had a sale on 500GB WD portable hard drives for $27. Great deals can always be found if you look for them and have patience.
all the best
OTA HDTV Receiver with DVR
will keep looking
It looks like the 7400 is the newer model.
My question with these devices is, can you burn a disc from stored programs?
